Governor of Riyadh region and the beginner of urbanization

At the young age of nineteen years old, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz was first appointed as acting Governor of Riyadh Region. Then in 1955, at the age of twenty, he was appointed Governor of Riyadh Region by royal order.

The first infrastructure project for the city of riyadh was completed in the year 1931 which included several neighborhoods that aligned with the network system. Although, because city growth was higher than accounted for, the first project was cleared to align with the cities fast development.Then a cabinet decision was made in 1974 to establish the Higher commission for riyadh city under the leadership of King Salman (Prince at the time). With the decision of having the commission has sole control over the planning and execution for the city
